- GlaucomaInside every eye there is an optic nerve which connects your eye to your brain. In glaucoma the nerve becomes unhealthy which leads to a painless loss of vision. Some risk factors include age, family history and high eye pressure. Testing and treatment for glaucoma requires specialized equipment which not every eye doctor has access to in their clinic. Here at Dr. Huse and Associates, we have all the equipment needed to assess and manage your glaucoma.
- Macular DegenerationThe macula is responsible for everybody’s center vision. In macular degeneration, white spots called drusen start developing over time. If macular degeneration worsens, you will start to notice missing spots or distortions in the center of your vision. We have the technology to take photos of your macular degeneration, scan your macula using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to evaluate the cellular level of your retinal health, and measure the ability of your macular function using the AdaptDx Pro. In certain cases, macular degeneration requires treatment by a specialist which we can refer you to.

High levels of myopia greatly increase the risk for developing blinding eye diseases such as glaucoma, retinal detachments, cataracts and myopicmaculopathy. Click here for more details.
- Eye ExamIn an effort to provide a more thorough eye exam, our practice has incorporated the Optos California retinal photography as part of our comprehensive eye exam. Dr. Huse recommends the Optos photo to all of his patients.
- Diabetes Care
- Diabetic RetinopathyPoorly controlled diabetes can result in Diabetic Retinopathy. Diabetic Retinopathy is when bleeding and/or swelling develops inside the eye from too much sugar in the blood. It is recommended that diabetics have a dilated eye exam at least once a year to evaluate for these complications. At Dr. Huse and Associates, we perform these tests and have the technology to take photos of the inside of your eyes as well as scan your eyes for swelling. If diabetic retinopathy is severe enough, it may require referral to a retinal specialist for laser treatment or eye injections.
- Skin CancerThe Optos California takes an ultra wide photo of the back of the eye, providing the doctor with an image of the optic nerve, macula and peripheral retina without any of the side effects of dilation. This test helps diagnose early signs of eye diseases such as macular degeneration, choroidal melanoma, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy and glaucoma.
