Expensive

I took my Japanese cruiser to them to get it running, after it had sat for almost a year, which is bad, I know. I cringed as I did so, seeing that they seemed to be into the Harley thing However, since Mobile Cycle Center was closed, a place I trusted exclusively to work on my stuff in the past, I took my bike to this place because it was the closest cycle shop in my area. After having my bike for over three weeks, I walked in to see what progress had been made on it. They had a difficult time tracking down the paperwork, but did eventually find it, so I knew that nothing had been started on my bike's repair. They promised to call me the next day, and did so, telling me at that time that it was ready. I was told that they changed an electric harness near the battery, which repaired the motorcycle. As a fuel injected bike, carburetion was not a problem, apparently, so no fuel related issues had to be addressed. When I asked for the price, they said it would be $400. Four Benjamins to replace a harness, one they indicated they already had at the shop. Hmm. I talked to a fellow about some work he had done there, after my experience with them. For $200, he had more work done than me, for a bike that was barely running and required quite a bit of work. While I don’t remember everything he said he had done, one of the things he mentioned was that they did go through his carbs. That’s not a huge job, but it requires more effort than tracking down an electrical problem and swapping a harness, I’m sure. That guy’s bike was Japanese, too. He indicated he had never been there before that trip. The bike does run, now, but it seems that little effort was necessary make it so and at great cost, at least in my opinion. I’m not sure why my work cost as much as it did, but I won't be back.
