Hello my name is Mr Shine and i would like to share my experience with Funk Lawn Care. I used to work for a local lawn pesticides company by the name of Funk Lawn Care. They are located at 330 Fillmore avenue in Tonawanda. On more than one occasions several employees and I were asked to illegally dump swill water behind the shop on the property. The property borders Elliott creek which drains into the Upper Niagara river. To familiarize you with what SWILL WATER is, its water off the floor of the fill station where trucks are filled with lawn pesticides. It is collected via a drain system and stored in a large tank. This swill water is collected because it's illegal to allow it to run off into the sewer system. Swill water can contain motor oil, gasoline, soap, degreaser, grease, fertilizers, weed killers, crabgrass killers, Telstar, which is a residual insect killer that stays active for weeks, and whatever else that is spilled onto the the floor. It's just a nasty cocktail of extremely dangerous toxic chemicals. Instead of paying to dispose of this nasty virulent noxious cocktail of chemicals properly they mix it with regular lawn fill then spray it onto customs lawns. Or they secretly have employees fill a truck full of swill, park the truck in the back of the property, run a hose over to a large rock pile and let it pump out until the truck is empty. The fact that Funk Lawn Care profits millions of dollars a year and they still choose to spray swill water onto customers Lawns and dispose of it in other ways says a lot about the company. If I were a customer I would not want them spraying swill water on my lawn especially when they advertise they use 50% less chemicals than other companies and especially because I have children that play on the lawn. I think the practice is just wrong and downright greedy and the customers need to be aware. I would also like to share my experience on how I was treated when I work there. I suffer from severe depression and anxiety. During my last few weeks working there I had been going through some life-changing events. These life-changing events had caused me to lose a lot of sleep. I had only been sleeping Maybe one or two hours at night at the most. I had begged for time off so I could try to rectify my situation and get better. I even had told them that I needed to see a doctor or maybe even check into the hospital. The managers there still refuse to give me time off even though my job duties included driving a chemical truck around Western New York. I had notified them that I wasn't sleeping very well and that I was having trouble staying awake at the wheel. They still demanded that I go out on the road or be suspended without pay. I feel this speaks volumes. They totally disregarded the safety of the public by demanding that a man with minimal sleep still go out and drive a large truck full of chemicals. Knowing that it wasn't safe for me to continue to work in that condition I had no other choice but to quit my job. Being a father of four this was devastating to my family. They had demonstrated a total disregard for the safety of the people on the road and my safety. I also injured my back while working for funk . if still hasn't fully healed. The doctor had told me it was something to do with my sciatic nerve and had given me a cortisone shot or something to that effect and sent me home. A few weeks later I got a bill in the mail for over $700. Turns out they were refusing to pay my medical bill even though I was hurt at work. They're disgustingly greedy people which is really sad because some of the men that work there are really really nice guys and deserve so much betterBest Regards; Mr. Shine

I have been with Funk for more than 15 yrs. and if ever I had a problem they came out and took care of it right away. At one point they had a very sarcastic secretary and they lost her, thank goodness. But my lawn looks great and like I said if I saw a weed they came out and took care of it. LOVE THEM!!

the lady in the office was very nice and helpful when I was confused about why I had a bill left in my door while I was gone. I actually didn't need to be home while they treated my lawn because, as she explained, the service is guaranteed. So if i was unsatisfied, which im not, with how my lawn looked after the treatment, I can call at any time and have them retreat for free.

shopped around for a while and this was the only company I found that guaranteed my lawn would be weed free. tried it out for a few weeks and my lawn wasn't as perfect as I expected so they came out and fixed my problems for free! I dont know why the other reviews on this page are so negative but I talked with the manager and they have several employees out all day doing free services for customers that aren't thrilled with how their lawn looks. and furthermore I being an ex lawn care employee I know first hand that all companies will have certain mixes of fertilizer pesticides and water depending on the climate, time of year, and what is on most lawns. More fertilizer in 90 degree weather is going to burn your lawn so dont complain about getting less.

I would rather have WEEDS than Funk Lawn service!

This company not only burned my lawn, but expected me to pay for it!!! After two years of service my lawn never looked worse! I have had many friends who have cancelled business with Funk. They have very sneaky ways to keep you as a customer. If you have cancelled their business they will still come out for another application and make you pay for it saying they didn't get the "memo." You still have to pay even if you didn't want it, even if they destroyed your property! Find someone else to fertilize your lawn...I would rather have WEEDS than this company!!!!!!
