General Info: Since 1793, The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) has been a builder, caretaker and curator of many landmark buildings of the United States. Some of these buildings include U.S. Capitol, Capitol Visitor Center, Senate Office buildings, White House Office buildings, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, U.S. Botanic Garden and Capitol Campus grounds. The organization s primary functions involve maintenance, operation, development and preservation of 16.5 million square feet of buildings and more than 450 acres of land, throughout the Capitol complex. Some of its affiliations include the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, The American Institute of Architects, Construction Industry Institute, National Building Museum, International Association of Museum Facility Administrators (IAFMA) and International Facility Management Association (IFMA).
