      Upstate New York Transplant Services is a nonprofit organization authorized by the federal government to accept anatomical gifts for transplantation and medical research. Located in Buffalo, N.Y., the company coordinates the donation process in the eight counties of New York by methods, such as talking with families to inform them of their donation options and by coordinating the organ and tissue recovery process with hospitals and funeral homes. Additionally, Upstate New York Transplant Services allocates organs and tissues for transplant and provides follow-up information to donor families. It is operated under the direction of a community board of directors. The company s members of the board include physicians, business and religious leaders, transplant recipients and hospital administrators.
