Established in 1988 Siskiyou County Jail can accommodate more than 100 inmates. It holds pretrial felons and sentenced misdemeanor and felony violators. Located in Yreka, Calif., the jail is comprised of over 40 personnel and civilian and correctional officers. Siskiyou County Jail is a self-contained facility that offers on-site food and medical services. It has an on-site tutor who assists inmates in learning math, English, computer skills and checking accounts. The jail also supports nondenominational programs that are offered by volunteer lay-ministers, as well as supports a post-release treatment program. Siskiyou County Jail additionally provides domestic violence, tobacco, drug and alcohol counseling services. It is a part of Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department, which is a law enfacement agency that works to preserve and maintain law and order.
